Portland Concierge Association  & America’s Hub World Tours explore the eruption of Mount St. Helens October 19, 2009.
On May 18, 1980, Mount St. Helens erupted by an earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale.
Shaken by an earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale, the north face of this tall symmetrical mountain collapsed in a massive rock debris avalanche. Nearly 230 square miles of forest was blown down or buried beneath volcanic deposits. At the same time a mushroom-shaped column of ash rose thousands of feet skyward and drifted downwind, turning day into night as dark, gray ash fell over eastern Washington and beyond. The eruption lasted 9 hours, but Mount St. Helens and the surrounding landscape were dramatically changed within moments.

In 1982, the President and Congress created the 110,000-acre National Volcanic Monument for research, recreation, and education. Inside the Monument, the environment is left to respond naturally to the disturbance.

David,

It was great to meet you last month and I wanted to send you a link to the Amtrak story online. A photo of you and Leanna did run in our print edition. We got some real positive feedback on the series.

Dear Friends,

Last Saturday, we picked the last of our estate fruit, bringing harvest to a very satisfying close.  So far, Véronique is quite impressed with the overall quality of 2009, and fermentations are progressing easily. It’s early still, but 2009 seems like a very worthy follow-up to 2008!

New Pinot Noir Release!
In the meantime, we have just released the 2006 Pinot Noir Cuvée Laurène.  This is the 15th Anniversary release of Laurène, which began with the 1992 vintage and has since come to be recognized as one of Oregon’s very best Pinot Noirs.  The Wine Advocate already scored the wine 92 pts, and Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar says 91 pts.  Jancis Robinson calls the wine “pretty and confident.”  Véronique says it’s simply delicious now and will age quite well.

The price of the 2006 Laurène is $65/Bottle, $150/Magnum and $325/Jeroboam
DDO Direct Classique and Mid Members save 15% from these prices.
Plus members save 20% and receive free shipping.

2009 Pre-Thanksgiving at DDO:  (November 21-25)
