In recent days, we’ve learned more than 200 women and infants were gang raped over a period of 4 days near a UN compound. http://huff.to/aviztJ  Enough is enough!

We’re in search of 1000 people who will stand up for our sisters in Congo today.  Join us by adding your personal note to our letter insisting that Secretary of State Clinton do everything in her power to stop the violence.  It will only take a few minutes!  Then personally invite 5 friends to join you, or invite your whole network.

Let’s declare this horrific incident a turning point for Congo:

Incredible picture taken in Sitka, AK

Hi all. I couldn’t resist sending this one along. The photo was taken at the entrance to Katlian Bay at the end of the road in Sitka. The whale is coming up to scoop up a mouthful of herring (the small fish seen at the surface around the kayak). The kayaker is a local Sitka Dentist. I haven’t talked to him yet, but haven’t heard of any injuries out of the experience.

Kayak Magazine article

From Steve: “Yep, that is me in the picture. Yep that is a whale that was just around the corner from the ferry terminal.”Paddle really fast” is the only thing I could think of at the time. Also thinking that I don’t look like a herring, don’t smell like a herring but with the same herring instinct of ‘get the hell out of the way of that big mouth!!’ Still living to tell yet another story.” Rich K (Sitka’s very own Dr. Richard Kraft during one of his routine oral examinations)

It’s time to go back!

Torres del Paine National Park in Patagonia is the most beautiful getaway adventures in South America and it is filled with turquoise-blue lakes, soaring snow-covered peaks, glaciers, fields dotted with red grasses and green-and-yellow shrubs called “mother-in-law’s chair,” because of their thorns.

For those of you who like the challenge of a scenic and most amazing hike consider  the famous “Three Towers,” There are still days I wake up with a desire to go back…. You will find people traveling from around the world to explore this new found territory… Patagonia is still a place you can get out and enjoy trails in many places without feeling like you never left the city. ….Truly a destination getaway….

Dear Friends,

Last Saturday, we picked the last of our estate fruit, bringing harvest to a very satisfying close.  So far, Véronique is quite impressed with the overall quality of 2009, and fermentations are progressing easily. It’s early still, but 2009 seems like a very worthy follow-up to 2008!

New Pinot Noir Release!
In the meantime, we have just released the 2006 Pinot Noir Cuvée Laurène.  This is the 15th Anniversary release of Laurène, which began with the 1992 vintage and has since come to be recognized as one of Oregon’s very best Pinot Noirs.  The Wine Advocate already scored the wine 92 pts, and Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar says 91 pts.  Jancis Robinson calls the wine “pretty and confident.”  Véronique says it’s simply delicious now and will age quite well.

The price of the 2006 Laurène is $65/Bottle, $150/Magnum and $325/Jeroboam
DDO Direct Classique and Mid Members save 15% from these prices.
Plus members save 20% and receive free shipping.
