Hi there – we’ve just posted our Harvest Video for 2009 on YouTube.

Follow this link to see grape picking, grape stealing by one pretty dog (me!) and assorted funny stuff that happened.

It was a beautiful day and the grapes are our best harvest yet!  We’ll make some exciting wines this year!

And, don’t forget to follow me on Twitter  @mollythewinedog – I’ve got a nose for wine!

Cheers! — I mean…woof!

Dear Friends,

Last Saturday, we picked the last of our estate fruit, bringing harvest to a very satisfying close.  So far, Véronique is quite impressed with the overall quality of 2009, and fermentations are progressing easily. It’s early still, but 2009 seems like a very worthy follow-up to 2008!

New Pinot Noir Release!
In the meantime, we have just released the 2006 Pinot Noir Cuvée Laurène.  This is the 15th Anniversary release of Laurène, which began with the 1992 vintage and has since come to be recognized as one of Oregon’s very best Pinot Noirs.  The Wine Advocate already scored the wine 92 pts, and Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar says 91 pts.  Jancis Robinson calls the wine “pretty and confident.”  Véronique says it’s simply delicious now and will age quite well.

The price of the 2006 Laurène is $65/Bottle, $150/Magnum and $325/Jeroboam
DDO Direct Classique and Mid Members save 15% from these prices.
Plus members save 20% and receive free shipping.

2009 Pre-Thanksgiving at DDO:  (November 21-25)

The Barrel Room will be open for members of our wine club, DDO Direct, with a sampling from the Library.  Classique and Mid members receive complimentary entrance for two and Classique Plus members receive complimentary entrance for four.

Special note:  We are opening up on Monday, Nov. 23 and Tuesday, Nov. 24, from 11am – 4pm (in addition to our regular Wed-Sun hours) to welcome folks who are in town for the week and want to stock up on holiday wines but want to avoid the post-Thanksgiving rush.   We will be closed Thanksgiving Day and the weekend following.

DDO Website Changes

DURING APRIL – EXTRA SAVINGS ON ACCLAIMED 2007 PINOT BLANC
Pinot Blanc is one of the lesser known varietals, but it is well suited to the region’s cool climate and the WillaKenzie Estate terroir. The wine’s generous fruit and bright acidity make it extremely food-friendly. Enjoy now, or follow Matt Kramer’s advice below and cellar a few bottles!

Delivers a full measure of the melon and citrus scents and taste characteristic of this variety. Although tasty today, it shows every likelihood of improving and becoming more dimensional with additional aging. A screwcap seals the pristine deal. THIS IS SUPERB DRY WHITE WINE.
Matt Kramer – The Oregonian – Sept. 14, 2008

SPRING SPECIAL $ 17.00 Btl. – THROUGH APRIL 30TH
