The New Portland City Tour

We don’t just show you the highlights of downtown, we introduce  you to the City of Portland.  The only city tour in Portland that offers a well-balanced overview of both downtown and surrounding area’s  history, culture and current events.  Travel through the various parts of the city and visit all the must-see attractions, then we take you on another adventure throughout the various parts of the city neighborhoods, historical buildings, businesses and sights.

We have expanded our tours to offer some information on the representation of cultural diversity in the state of Oregon. Throughout the year America’s Hub World Tours will continue to expand to include African American, Asian, Japanese, Chinese, German, French, Italian, Hispanic and more information about cultural groups and their importance in the state of Oregon. Itinerary Summary

On our acclaimed Portland City Tour. Some of the many attractions may include:

1. Downtown Portland:
Enjoy the sites of Pioneer Square and learn about the great diversity found in Portland’s downtown area, the historical importance it has played in the state’s history and the fast-growing culture that exists in the City of Portland.  Learn about  the final resting place of many prominent and notable citizens of Oregon, including  many governors and United State Senators and other notable burials in the City of Portland. Here’s just a few you may hear about on our city tour.

a. Lola Baldwin, (1860–1957) first female police officer in the United States

b. Simon Benson, (1852–1942) Portland businessman and philanthropist

c. Abigail Scott Duniway, (1834–1915) women’s rights pioneer

d. Dorothy McCullough Lee, (1902–1981) first female mayor of Portland

e. Henry Pittock, (1836–1919) publisher The Oregonian newspaper

f. Isaac W. Smith, (1826–1897)  Pioneer of Portland’s water system

g. Henry Weinhard, (1830–1904) brewer and Portland businessman

2. Portland Food Carts: Whether your tastes run from Greek gyros, Vietnamese Pho, Indian curries, Polish sausages, to Moroccan tagines, you can whet your appetite at Portland Food Carts all over town.

3. Pittock Mansion:
 A French Renaissance Chateau listed on the national registry of historic places. Enjoy the spectacular views from the grounds of the Pittock Mansion.

4. Portland International Rose Gardens:
With our 550 different varieties of Roses and the lush and beautiful Washington Park featuring some of the most amazing cascade mountain views around.

5. Portland Center Backstage Tour:
A perfect opportunity for your organization, business or club to learn about what it takes to put together a professional theater production. Let theater professionals take your group on a virtual tour through there state-of-the-art facility, giving you an in-depth look at how we create  costumes, sets and  new worlds onstage. Learn  facts about professional actors, the rehearsal timeline, costume design,  creating wigs, props, building sets and other professional theater “fun” facts. The group would see the backstage area for both theaters in the building, dressing rooms, green rooms and the costume shop.

7. Portland Neighborhoods:
Some of the most popular neighborhoods may includes Nob Hill, The Pearl District, North Mississippi, Alberta and North Portland, Vista Hills and Council Crest.

Requirements

We hope you join in on the activities and display team spirit. We suggest you bring a light jacket. The days can be pleasantly cool in the winter months, around 40-48 degrees mostly and summer months, warm around 70 to 85 degrees, with cooler evenings. Tour participants should keep this in mind and bring suitable clothing. Additional information will be provided for recommended clothing prior to travel.
